Waveney Folk Club - What's On

Local performers and visitors entertain playing some of their favourite songs and tunes as we celebrate the season of Autumn. Expect to hear a wide range of performance material in this ever popular Singers Night. So come along to perform or listen to the entertainment on offer.
There will be no door charge tonight just a collection to cover the cost of hiring the hall.

 

Folk duo based in Suffolk who perform a mix of traditional and contemporary songs and tunes as well as their own compositions. Previously based in Lincolnshire where they won the B.B.C. Song for Lincolnshire Competition in 2015, and were runners up in 2016.
Homity are a sweet voiced duo, Ian sings and plays the guitar, and Michelle sings harmony vocals and also plays a range of whistles and occasionally the concertina.
During their time in Lincolnshire they were well known on the folk circuit in that part of the country, playing at folk clubs and festivals.
Now back in Suffolk they bring their Lincolnshire folk music experience, and collection of songs and tunes to the Waveney Folk Club in what promises to be a really good evening of folk music entertainment.

 

Liz Simcock has been called one of the country’s finest female singer songwriters. Her songs connect with the audiences and are injected with poetry, emotion and splashes of humour. Liz has gained a growing reputation as a top class performer and songwriter; therefore she is always a popular and well liked singer songwriter who performs on the folk club circuit.
Liz counts Richard Thompson, Clive Gregson, Boo Hewerdine and Joni Mitchell amongst her songwriting influences. Liz has released five albums, and has a new Album in the making, with the working title, Into The Light.
The Waveney Folk Club looks forward to the welcome return of the highly talented and very popular Liz Simcock on the 20th November.

 

Zingaro Blue are a very talented Suffolk based Gypsy Folk trio. The name Zingaro means gypsy in Italian and they were first formed as a performing group in 2015.
They were formed by Lesley Neesham (now Price) and well known violinist Mario Price.
They will be presenting their show of myths and legends together with songs from East Anglia and beyond, featuring Folk-a-DillyTales. They aim to tell amazing true stories and quirky folk tales that will have the audience laughing, crying and sometimes, scaring you as well.
Mario and Lesley plan to carry on writing songs and producing music videos something they have come to love doing; it’s a real passion in their creative lives.
With the help and support of their many friends Mario and Lesley hope that Zingaro Blue will continue churning out the songs and stories they and the audiences enjoy so much.
This gig has been kindly offered by Zingaro Blue to help raise funds for the Waveney Folk Club. There will be no door charge tonight just a collection for the folk club funds.
